    Fiat Palio CNG

The Palio has been in the Indian market for over a decade now and it looks like Fiat is doing everything it can to sell more of their entry level hatch. The rumors have been in the making for a while and if they are to be believed then by the end of this year we will see a CNG kit being installed into the Fiat Palio. With gas prices on the move it is likely that a CNG fitted Palio would be suitable for the demands of the Indian Customer. This would also be the first environmentally friendly move by Fiat in India.

    Honda CR-V Diesel

Honda has never played around with diesel engines before. India however loves its diesel engines which have forced the Japanese manufacturer to venture into the unknown and now the Honda CR-V will soon be available in a diesel avatar. Honda has developed a 2200cc 4-cylinder diesel engine which can produce 134bhp and a very tasteful 347Nm of torque. There will be no difference between the diesel and petrol variant, the only difference will be the power unit. The move by Honda to dabble with diesel engines shows that they are trying to increase sales for the ailing CR-V.

    Volkswagen UP

After success with the Polo and Vento, the German car maker is all set to enter the small car market just like every other car maker in India. The VW Up which has shown great success in Europe will come to India with an attractive price tag of Rs 3 lakh. The company is also planning to produce 250,000 units of the vehicle in India itself which has helped keep the price low. The engines have still yet to be decided but we predict a 1.2 litre power unit with 4 cylinders managing to create anywhere between 60 to 85bhp. The car will also be fitted with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed automatic version of VW’s DSG transmission. The USP of this vehicle however might be its fuel efficiency. Sources say that the Up will be able to consume just one litre of petrol for every 20-25km traveled. For the Indian consumer this is like a pot of gold.

    Volvo C70

The retractable hardtop, Volvo C70, has been grabbing a lot of attention since its launch worldwide. This 2 door convertible features a 2.5 litre 5-cylinder turbo charged engine which can create 227bhp@5000rpm. This means the car can pick up quite some speed and very easily to. We already know the car will come with an endless list of safety features and so the C70 calmly blends the safety and comfort we have come to expect from Volvo with the beauty and harmony of Pininfarina style. It allows you to experience the luxury of a convertible and the sportiness of a coupe. The retractable roof takes just 30 seconds to transform the C70 into a completely different car. The C70 will compete directly with the Z4 and the E Cabriolet.

    Audi A5

The Audi A5 has plans to launch this desired coupe in India very soon. The car is sensuous in its design with curves galore in a sporty yet classy manner. For the Indian market it would be available in three different variants including a 3.2 litre V6 and a 4.2 litre V8 petrol engine as well as 3.0 litre diesel version. The car will also be available in a cabriolet avatar which the current Indian market lacks. The car also features a long wheel base and wide wheel track which provides additional stability and the car also comes loaded with German technological features such as ABS, traction control, electronic stability control, headlight range adjustment, state of the art infotainment system and a host of safety features.

    Chevrolet Volt

It was first shown to the Indian masses at the Delhi Auto Expo 2010. The car has since then been launched in the United States with great success and GM claim that they are planning to bring the high voltage Chevy Volt to the Indian Market. This plug in electric hybrid vehicle uses a 1.4 litre internal combustion engine which can produce 80bhp and it also uses an 111kW electric motor that feeds of two lithium ion batteries and is capable of producing 150bhp and 370Nm of torque. The electric range of the car is around 55km and once the batteries are drained the drive train switches to the petrol engine. The interiors are also well laid out and the overall design is basic and efficient. The car can also blast from 0-100kmph in less than 9 seconds.

    Hyundai i30

A step higher than the i20, the i30 hatchback is bigger and better. The i30 currently has both petrol and diesel engines and India will likely receive both of them. For petrol there is a 1.4 litre with 105bhp, a 1.6 litre with 124bhp and a 2.0 litre with 142bhp. For diesel units there are four variants the lowest being the 1.6 CRDi with 90bho and the highest is a 2.0 litre CRDi with 138bhp. For transmission there is a choice of 5-speed manual or 6-speed manual on the 2.0CRDi, and a 4-speed automatic.

    Mahindra Xylo mHAWK

M&M will launch a more powerful version of the already successful Xylo. The new version will be fitted with the well refined mHawk engine, which was the same powerhouse used in the Scorpio. The mHawk variant features the 2197cc turbo diesel mHawk engine, which is capable of churning out 120bhp@4000rpm and can also create a very healthy torque of 290Nm@1800rpm. The other specs of the car remain the same.

    Audi Q7 6.0L V12 TDI

Audi has gone ballistic with their new Q7. The SUV is now loaded with a more powerful V12 TDI Quattro engine that previously powered the Audi A8. The new powerful Q7 whose engine is equipped with two turbochargers would be able to accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in just 6 seconds. The engine is a 6 litre V12 TDI which can create 500 bhp, plus a maximum torque of 1,000 Nm. That makes this power plant the crowning glory of a range of engines boasting impressive dynamism, power and efficiency. It highly likely that this product will be launched in India soon but it is still unclear when the power packed German SUV will be launched.

    Chevrolet Spark - 800CC

GM has announced plans to launch an 800 cc version of the Spark. Because of the high demand for cheaper small cars, the move to fit the Spark with a smaller engine was necessary. The 800cc Spark will be GM’s lowest priced offering in the Indian market and will compete with the Nanao and Alto. The Spark will be powered by a 795cc 3-cylinder that can create around 50bhp. This engine will also be able to provide a very good fuel economy of 22kmpl. This 800cc spark is already on sale in South Africa and will reach India very soon.

    Fiat Bravo

The 1.9L Multijet engine can produce150bhp and 305Nm of torque. It also boasts sleek interiors and is bolstered with a sporty exterior trim. The Bravo has generous dimensions with soft, fluid lines that simply highlight the muscular body of a real Grand Tourer. If the Bravo will make it to our shores it would be the most expensive hatchback in the country and compete with the likes of the VW Polo and Hyundai i20. Fiat has struggled to make an impact on the Indian consumer but is in a hurry to unleash a frenzy of products in the fats growing Indian market.

    Honda Brio

Yet another addition to the small car segment space heats things up. Honda will also now compete directly with the likes of Maruti and Hyundai with their latest product

offering, the Brio. The small car has been designed to keep Indian customers in mind and features a bold and dynamic look with efficient and comfortable interiors. It will be an

entry level compact car fitted with a 1.2 litre 3-cylinder VTEC engine that can churn out 85bhp. Honda also plans to make these cars in India at some point in the near future.

    Mitsubishi Colt

Mitsubishi will soon take the plunge to enter into the Indian small car segment with their international seller, the Colt. Currently the Japanese car maker already has a product

for every segment in India except the small car market. The Colt currently features a 1.5 litre four cylinder engine in the international market which can provide for 70 horses

of power and 210Nm of torque. India will likely receive the 1.5 litre as a top of the line variant with smaller engines also likely to be available for a cheaper price. The car

features strong modern Japanese design and comes fitted with central locking, rain sensing wipers and remote fuel filler cap.

    Hyundai Genesis

The sleek and very sporty Hyundai Genesis which was showed to the Indian public at the last Auto Expo surely did raise some questions as to why the Korean car maker has not

offered this product to the Indian car enthusiast yet. The good news is that speculation has stirred up and that the Genesis Coupe could make it to Indian shores sometime next

year. There is still doubt over whether the Coupe or the brand new Sedan is on the cards for the Indian market. The new Genesis Luxury Sedan is powered by a 429 V8 engine and

would compete directly with the S Class, 7Series and A8, however what is more likely is that the Genesis coupe be launched in India first. The most basic sport Coupe features a

2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine busting out 210bhp while the top of the line engine is a massive 3.8 litre V6 with 306bhp. We cant wait for this one!

    Lamborghini Gallardo

Lamborghini has already planned to bring all of its models to India. In fact, the Gallardo LP560-4 is already here. The LP560 is fitted with an improved 5204cc 10-cylinder

engine and has all the necessary high-tech gadgetry to accompany the car such as ESP, EBD, traction control and ABS. The car is capable of reaching a top speed of and 325kmph

because of the 560 horses that push it to the max at 8000 revs. The intrinsic design philosophy of this car is also based on fluid Lamborghini style and will surely turn heads

and catch eyes. The price tag on this beast however is not quite attractive.

    Nissan Murano

Nissan is planning to launch its mid-size SUV for the Indian market. The Murano which sells well in the US will compete directly with the Q5 and the X3 in India. This vehicle is

fitted with a large 3.5 litre V6 engine with 24 vales producing 265bhp and mated to a CVT transmission. The car has a 0-100kmph acceleration time of just 9 seconds and it also

features ABS, EBD and ESP amongst many other tech and safety features. A brand new cross cabriolet of the Murano is also available for the international market. This car is

actually a cross between a cabriolet, a coupe and a SUV. You see, the top of this car can actually come off and there are only 2 doors. But it is uncertain if this version of

the Murano will reach Indian shores.

Sandero is a 5-seater modern hatchback with an appealing design that suggests both dynamic performance and robustness. Although it may be a small car it still has a boot capacity of 320 litres and a total carrying capacity of 1,200 litres. For the Indian market the new hatch is also fitted with a 1461cc 4-cylinder diesel engine that can create a healthy power output of 74bhp@5500rpm and a maximum torque output of 160Nm@3000rpm. The revs will be controlled by a 5-speed manual transmission.
