Toyota India launched the 2012 version of Fortuner, at the 2012 Auto Expo. The SUV is now available in two more variants – 4x2 manual transmission and 4x2 automatic transmission. There are no changes under the hood, and the SUV is still powered by a 3.0-litre diesel producing 171PS and 343Nm of torque. The Fortuner is also available in two new colours – silver and gold, along with the new black and beige interiors.

Fortuner gets a new touch screen DVD player with reverse camera for parking assistance. On the exterior the SUV gets HID’s, redesigned headlamp and taillamp cluster and a new grille. Another important information revealed at the Auto Expo is that the Innova and Fortuner now share same platform, which means this SUV can be mass manufactured in India; and may see significant price reduction in the future.

Toyota claims that the 4x2 Fortuner has created a new segment, IMV (Innovative Multipurpose Vehicle) in the Indian market. Here are the prices (ex-showroom Delhi) for 2012 Toyota Fortuner.

Fortuner 4x2 manual: Rs 19.99 lakh.
Fortuner 4x2 automatic: Rs 20.69 lakh.
    Fortuner 4x4: Rs 20.99 lakh.

they've ruined the look of the car...the previous gen was much better looking, so thats good news for people looking to get a deal on the outgoing version as toyota will look to clear stocks...

its not imported as a cbu but as a SKD kit, i agree with singh tho, there are a lot more options in that same bracket that are now gaining momentum, the x1, q1, hyundai has also ventured in the same bracket with the santa fe, its probably a good time for toyota to do a rethink on its pricing strategy..

singh-a-lion I do agree with you that its not right to invest huge amount as other amazing option are available like Ford Ecosport, Mahindra XUV which will cost just half of Fortuner and mileage is double.
