Sahara Force India have unveiled their new car for the 2013 Formula 1 season. While McLaren and Lotus has used many elements of last season’s car in the new one, Force India claim that they have built a new car from ground-up. In terms of the looks the only major change in the disappearance of the ugly step nose making the car look that much more attractive.
The VJM06 was unveiled by Paul di Resta. But that meant that the big announcement about the second driver still wasn’t done. Former Force India driver Adrian Sutil and current test driver Jules Bianchi are the front runners for the position but the team doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to make a decision. This means that Force India will go into the Jerez with only di Resta doing all the testing. This will put a lot of load on the Scot’s shoulders but Force India have said that they are confident that it won’t be an issue.
The Scot said that a good start to the season is vital to the team’s chances of finishing up the order. “We need to start the season stronger than we have for the last couple of seasons. I’ve followed the car’s progress in the tunnel and it looks very impressive - aggressive and fast. Now I’m just eager to get out there and see where we stand compared to our competitors,” said di Resta during the launch in Silverstone.

The VJM06 is technical director Andrew Green’s third car with him at the helm and he is confident that the team has been able to build on the strengths of last season’s car and produce a better version. “It’s a brand new car from the ground-up – everything is new. We discussed carrying over big chunks of last year’s car, including the chassis, but decided not to,” said Green at the launch.

The Silverstone-based team has finished seventh in the constructors’ standing last season and will be
looking to better their performance this season
