    The 2012 Mazda3 is the first in North America that received SKYACTIV technologies, which include fuel-saving SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter gasoline engine, SKYACTIV-MT 6-Spd MT and SKYACTIV-Drive 6-Spd AT. Also for 2012, the Mazda3 and Mazdaspeed3 exterior and interior have been refined to improve sporty driving dynamics and comfortable cabin space.

    The 2012 Mazda3 i Touring and Grand Touring models are powered by the SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter engine, which generates 155 horsepower at 6,000 rpm (5% improvement over 2011 MY) and 148 lb-ft of torque at 4,100 rpm (10% improvement over 2011 MY). When equipped with the SKYACTIV-MT 6-Spd AT, the 2012 Mazda3 sedan achieve a fuel economy rating of 40 mpg on the highway, an approximately 21% improvement over the MZR 2.0-liter engine on the previous model year. When equipped with the SKYACTIV-MT 6-Spd MT, the sedan has fuel economy rating of 27 city/39 highway mpg.

    The 2012 Mazda3 s Touring and Grand Touring are powered by the MZR 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, which produces 167 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 168 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. The MZR 2.5-liter engine achieves fuel economy rating of 20 city/28 highway with a manual transmission and 22 city/29 highway with the automatic.

    The 2012 Mazdaspeed3 is powered by a 2.3-liter Direct Injection Spark Ignition (DISI) Turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, which produces 263 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 280 lb-ft. of torque at 3,000 rpm. The Mazdaspeed3 has fuel economy rating of 18 city/25 highway mpg.
