General motors announced today the price list for the 2012 Buick Regal model range, including the GS and eAssist versions. Both, the 2012 Regal GS and the 2012 Regal eAssist will go on sale this fall, offering new technology and a more performance oriented driving experience. The 2012 Buick Regal GS is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine with an output of 270 hp and 400 Nm of torque, which is quite a lot for a car in this class. In fact, the 2012 Regal GS delivers more torque than an Acura TSX V-6, Audi A4 Sport, Lexus IS 250, Volvo S60 T5 and even a Mitsubishi Evo. The 2012 Buick Regal GS price list starts at $35,310 USD, which includes the $860 USD destination charge.

The 2012 Buick Regal eAssist is the more environment-friendly oriented option. It's powered by a hybrid system featuring a 15 hp electric motor and a 182 hp and 233 Nm of torque 2.4-liter combustion engine. Buick says that the 2012 Regal eAssist is able to offer a fuel consumption of up to 26 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway. The 2012 Buick Regal eAssist price list starts at $29,530 USD, which also includes the $860 USD in destination charges. The eAssist is in fact an option for the 2012 Regal base model, which costs an extra $2,000 USD.

26 mpg is not really economical..why don't they use diesel vehicles, for economy i mean..what the point of having a hybrid thats running on petrol?
