Maruti Suzuki has introduced a new variant of its compact car A-Star, priced between Rs 3.67 lakh and Rs 4.47 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The retail sales of the new "spiced-up" A-Star will start from January 27. Based on the current price list available on the company's website, the new variant will be costlier on average by about Rs 1,000.

"The smart modifications in the spiced-up A-star are in line with customer feedback and seek to enhance the overall look, feel and comfort of the buyers," Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) chief general manager (Marketing) Shashank Srivastava said in a statement.

In the refreshed A-Star, the company has revamped the interiors and added new colours to the offering. Besides, a new top-end variant, ZXi, has also been introduced.

Earlier, the company had rolled out the automatic version of the A-Star and currently it accounts for almost one third of the model's total sales.

The car is MSI's Japanese parent Suzuki's fifth global model and it manufactured only at Manesar in India.

MSI sold a total of 3.81 lakh units of A-Star, which is the flagship export model of the company. The company has exported over 2.81 lakh units so far to over 130 countries, primarily to the European markets such as the Netherlands, Italy, the UK, Spain and Germany. Other markets that have also contributed the car include Australia and South Africa.

the A-Star also shares its platform with a nissan rebadged vehicle...till last year it was the cheapest car to go on sale in the uk, the A-star hasn't really been the kind of success that maruti was hoping for, its sales figures have been modest at best...let's hope they turn it around, i've driven it...its quite rev happy and nippy..

That's right Dhhawal A-Star was not liked by the Indian people and this car was didn't get the response by the people as generally maruti car's get in the Indian auto world the main reason behind this was its high price range.
