it depends on your car. some cars u should shift at about 70km like mine, and some are a bit earlier or later. best rpm to shift around is about 2100-3000, you will get good gas mileage and the car wont feel like staling after u shift cause the rpm's wont be to low.

I used to do 5th gear when I was over 70kpmh for economical driving

for racing purpose
1st - 60kmph
2nd - 110 kmph
3rd - 180 kmph

I never used 4th n 5th but then again it depends how u drive

Telling us what car you are driving would help answer the question a bit better?

as long as your revs are above 1200-1300 rpm, its not a problem..

bhai are you serious

like small capacity engines wont be able to cope up with this much range

skyline would struggle if the rpms are less then 2K

skylines are high revving engines buddy, thats why they have less torque at low revs, mostly in city, even driving spiritedly you are hardly going over 3k rpm, and i think he's referring to his corolla altis which makes it hardly in the same league and also corolla has an underquare engine which makes it torquier low down, but you do make a good point, you ought to have good throttle control at those rpms

it starts stalling at low rpm
i had a lancer manual 1.5 litre it had same prob
less then 2 k it starts stalling n then ultimately thers a need of lower gear
